How can the MEP support
Parents of OSY may struggle to know how to support their children.
This occurs because they do not know what is available for their child who is no longer in school and the child is asserting their independence. Some of the ways to support parents of OSY are:
Building relationship and providing opportunities to listen to parental concerns with OSY.
Invite parent of OSY for Migrant PAC meetings.
Introduce parents of OSY to other parents of OSY.
Information on how MEP coordinates resources for identified needs.
Information on alternative education opportunities for their OSY such as HSE, Vocational Programs, Workforce Solutions, and community English classes.
