Project SMART

Project SMART: Making Mathematics Meaningful is a Texas summer math migrant program created by the Texas Education Agency as
part of the MEP Curriculum Initiative Grant.

The objectives and activities of Project SMART were designed for the most mobile students enrolled in summer migrant programs. The overarching goal of the project is to improve the math skills of migrant students through scientifically-based instruction, video
integration, professional development, and parent involvement. It is used across Texas each summer.

Several states who receive Texas migratory students in the summer also utilize this program to support these students and help make
their transition back to Texas easier. States that currently use the Project SMART curriculum include: Arkansas, Illinois, Michigan,
Missouri, and Montana.
